Parent Requirements

Prospective adoptive parents must have genuine motivation in adoption and must be mature enough to make a life-long commitment to take up parental responsibilities for a child adopted from Hong Kong. They must also have adequate ability, sound health (both physically and mentally) and resources to bring up an adoptive child and provide the child with a stable and permanent home.

  • Age: At least 25 years old for the adoption of an unrelated child, and at least 21 years old for the adoption of a related child.
  • Marriage: At least three (3) years of stable marriage for married couples.
  • Education: At least 12 years of formal education.
  • Health: At least reasonably good health and free from infectious diseases.
